Where do libertarians stand on conscription (National Service)?

Libertarians see the policy of conscription as immoral and no different from involuntary servitude since individuals have no choice in the matter and are compelled by the state to serve in the military. This goes against the libertarian principle of self-ownership, which is simply, the idea that individuals are the ultimate boss over their own body and have final say over it.

Alternatively, libertarians would suggest other alternatives for the aim of ensuring a strong national defense. Military personnel should not be conscripted, but should either be volunteers or paid-employees, just as other civil servants are in government ministries. Removing the element of compulsion would very much increase the efficiency of the armed forces and potentially enhance its capabilities.
